Great Lakes Adult Living, established in 2006, is a state-certified Adult Foster Care Home dedicated to providing seniors with a safe, supportive, and truly home-like environment. Our mission is to offer a comfortable and independent lifestyle for seniors and disabled adults who might otherwise require institutional care or nursing facilities. We promote and maintain a non-hazardous environment and prevent non-communicable diseases. We provide assistance to the residents with their daily activities, but in the event there is a decline in health status, Great Lakes will continue to provide total care. We prioritize dignity and personalized attention, all while encouraging family involvement so every resident feels valued, connected, and truly at home.

We proudly serve Northwest Indiana and surrounding areas within Lake County, including but not limited to East Chicago, Gary, Hammond, Hobart, Schererville, Merrillville, Crown Point, and Dyer.
Our Services
Residents enjoy 24/7 client-centered care in a warm, family-like setting with professional staff. Services include homemaker services which includes: meal planning, medication supervision, laundry assistance, appointment scheduling, light housework, and a secure environment. Additionally, we provide personal care services including bath and grooming assisstance, dressing, hands-on assistance, etc. all of which are offered within a secured environment. We offer affordable rates, accept Medicaid waivers, and all caregivers are insured and bonded.

Why choose adult family care?
Adult family care (or adult foster care) provides compassionate client-centered care for those who need alternative support with daily living. Our services are ideal for seniors requiring additional assistance, as well as individuals who are developmentally disabled, physically impaired, or emotionally impaired.
Structured Family Caregiving
Great Lakes Adult Living also offers Structured Family Caregiving, which allows family to care for loved ones within their homes or the client's home. Through this program, care must be provided by qualified family members, close friends, is 24-hour care, and the caregivers must reside in the same home as the client. We make sure to provide clear information and guidance on eligibility guidelines, care recipient and caregiver requirements, available benefits and services, and the steps to apply.
